Interesting little book. I haven't used any of the spells in it, but I've read through it. It could be helpful.
just love this book. It was very helpful for me and my husband. We are new to the Pagan way and still learning so the books helps us in our learning.
I had picked up this book a month ago when I found out about it from a friend. Just got around to reading it today, and I must say, it's a refreshing, delightful read. The stories behind each of the spells were fascinating, and a much nicer approach to learning about spells than the normal "do this" formulas you see in most witchcraft books today. My only issue, and it's a VERY small issue, is that there aren't any recipes for the specific oils. I honestly wasn't that familiar with the "come to me" or "road opener" oils, and I would love to learn how to make my own. I am giving it 5 stars anyway because I really do love the book. Boudica's insightful and straight forward writing style is VERY appealing to me.
***And, since I have seen the comments on some of the other five star reviews, I have only vaguely spoken to Boudica. She isn't a personal friend, and I'm not reviewing this book at this rate for her. It's a *GENUINELY* good book. If any of you out there decide to spread negativity, don't even think to do it off of this review as I will report you.***
Very well written.
NOT your usual "Cookbook" layout of spellcraft, but little vignettes of spells done, including the "real world" actions needed to aid the spells to completion.
Lovely handbook for the experienced witch!
I decided to purchase this book after reading and enjoying this author's book on reiki. I was pleasantly surprised when I found I enjoyed this book even more than her previous ones. There are a glut of spell books on the market, of varying (many of them dubious)quality. This is more than just a grind herb A, burn candle color B and chant this rhyme sort of book. The author meticulously takes you through the whole process of doing a working - divination work to get a good idea of focus, mindset necessary,mundane work and finally some applicable workings. I am so happy to see that the sensible tone she struck in her reiki book is carried over here. All too often, work on the mundane level is ignored in the rush to put out a spell. Kudos to the author for making that point. Now I'm not a fan of handing a newbie a spell book without any background of the types of discipline magical work entails, but this is about as close as you can get to a solid "how to" for someone very new to spell work.
As a bit of a spell collector, I nabbed this book when it came to my attention on another page. The first thing I noticed was the nice formatting... it was refreshing to see a book put together for kindle that had actual chapters and links!
The next thing I noticed was this was not just another rehashed book of spell lists. The spell work is presented in story form, with background information, and even how the spells turned out for the people working them. Quite a change from the "Do this then that" spell books I have read, and it allows a subtlety of teaching that anyone from a noob to an experienced practitioner should appreciate.
All in all, I enjoyed this little romp through Magic ) Five stars well deserved!
